SPPCS English Language Curriculum:

We aim at developing a theme-based curriculum by engaging pupils in meaningful and authentic learning activities through multi-modal and multi-genre texts which they are actively and naturally involved in listening, speaking, reading and writing.

Reading Workshops

We cultivate pupils’ passion in reading through different reading approaches such as buddy reading, shared reading, guided reading, independent reading, reciprocal teaching and literature circle. A range of reading materials is selected to develop pupils’ critical thinking skills, critical literacy as well as positive values.

Using e-Learning Tools to Foster Self-directed Learning

e-Learning should not be a means to the end, but a tool to empower pupils’ learning. With the advancement in technology, it allows pupils to conveniently share knowledge and exchange ideas with peers. Through engaging in extensive reading, pupils build English knowledge progressively according to their own pace, interests and needs.

Theme-based Learning Activities

Pupils learn best when their new knowledge is linked to what they already know. Teachers make learning more meaningful and lasting by connecting their learning to their daily life experiences. Different experiential learning activities are hosted to encourage them to use English in all aspects of their lives and to enhance learning motivation and creativity.
