SPPCS English Language Curriculum

We aim at developing a theme-based curriculum by engaging students in meaningful and authentic learning activities through multi-modal and multi-genre texts which they are actively and naturally involved in listening, speaking, reading and writing.

Reading Workshops

We cultivate students' passion in reading through different reading approaches such as Buddy reading, Shared reading, Reciprocal Teaching, Guided reading and Independent reading.  A range of reading materials is selected to develop students' critical thinking skills, critical literacy as well as positive values.

Using e-Learning Tools to Foster Self-directed Learning

e-Learning should not be a means to the end, but a tool to empower students' learning.  With the advancement in technology, it allows students to conveniently share knowledge and exchange ideas with peers. Through engaging in extensive reading, students build English knowledge progressively according to their own pace, interests and needs.

Theme-based Learning Activities

Students learn best when their new knowledge is linked to what they already know.  Teachers make learning more meaningful and lasting by connecting their learning to their daily life experiences.

Enhancing English Language Environment

“Ready, Set, Speak!” is a weekly event held in the English Wonderland during recess. It aims to provide our students with the opportunity to practise their English in a casual, fun, and encouraging setting. Students collect stamps in their booklets by giving their best effort at different English games and tasks. The accumulation of stamps is rewarded with prizes, and students from all levels are invited to participate!

“Education is the most powerful weapon for changing the world.” – Nelson Mandela

My joy and motivation for teaching is to be a part of that education.

I have the privilege of helping P1, P4, and P5 students learn English this year. This is such an exciting opportunity. Since my first day here, the girls have been so kind and welcoming. I will do my absolute best to give them the best English learning experience I can provide.
